Hello

I'm trying to do my own from scratch ONAP setup for personal evaluation, did anyone do a comparison between hosting options and which one can I use for free trial...with no charges.

Probably only need this for a one month.

Is EC2 from amazon a good choice or does it have to be something else,

I understand rackspace is a compatible option but can I get it without being charged.

Thanks

Tawfik

      Tawfik,

Rackspace for ONAP 1.0.0. will work out of the box - but you will run about 160G of servers which costs about $3/hr US.  Since it takes an hour to spin up - I usually ran up a $60 bill for an average of 6 hours when experimenting.  I did a cost analysis of AWS on my account using 1yr reserved instances and it runs about $1.20/hr US (no forced support $ like rackspace).  Your best bet is helping us get the Kubernetes POC up so you can run it on local hardware and only spin up the VF's on openstack.  Note that ONAP 1.1.0-SNAPSHOT/master is the only branch that works on vanilla openstack with significant customization - mostly around DCAE.

As for free trials - Rackspace did not offer one to myself.  AWS will give you 1 year of access for new accounts (essentially a $300 credit) - but this runs only for each service and 1EC2/RDS pair (you need 17/18 EC2 instances).

Thanks Michael, will keep an eye on the discussion,

in the mean time I'm working with Josef to get access to SoftLayer to try ONAP setup there too from scratch (he has already done it before and I want to give it a try so I understand all steps)
