Business Requirements

To support 5G, Edge Computing, VOLTE use cases and other R2in ONAP some of the key requirements from a Cloud Infrastructure perspective are

  • A single Cloud Region needs to be able to manage multiple distributed physical DCs
  • Standardized representation of Multi-vendor Cloud Object Hierarchy for aggregate objects (Cloud Region, Tenants etc.) and atomic objects (VMs, Containers etc.) for resource allocation and resource utilization
  • Intra-Cloud Placement/Scheduling decisions take into account network latency and bandwidth at an atomic object level (VMs, Containers etc.)
  • Inter-Cloud Placement/Scheduling decisions take into account network latency and bandwidth at an aggregate object level (Cloud Region, Tenants etc.)
