You many also know me as the Supreme Leader of the Gamma Quadrant. Also I'm far better looking and intelligent than your ONAP TPM.

I like to serve as an example to others.

I have 20+ years of product strategy and architecture experience in Enterprise, Cloud & Telecom industry and in the last few years pioneered the Telco NFV movement chairing the NFV Research Group at IETF. I am currently at VMware where I lead ONAP strategy/architecture and Cloud Native/Edge technology strategy/architecture. I have a deep understanding of various technologies and I drove a differentiated SDN product initiative winning the ONS 2014 SDN Idol award for Brocade. I am a recognized innovator with 19 US patents, 8 IEEE conference papers with a best paper award.

I have been deeply involved in ONAP since its inception with key contributions in the following areas. First, Architecture, Use Cases and Functional Requirements for Cloud and Edge Computing. Next, external open source project representation for Edge Computing. Last, committer for OOF project.

My goal is to make ONAP the platform of choice for Application (Edge Apps etc.) and Network Function (5G etc.) through contributions in the area of Distributed System Design leveraging my technology, architecture and research experience besides my current contributions.

Timo is the Head of Open Source Network and Service Automation at Nokia, where he is responsible for driving Nokia’s overall engagement in ONAP. In this role Timo works across multiple industry organisations, both open source and standardisation, engages with both customers and other industry players, as well as internally across all Nokia businesses.

Timo has over 20 years of experience in network systems, ranging from multivendor interoperability verification, systems architecture research, new business incubation, to mobile network and operations systems standardisation, most recently heading Nokia engagement in Network Functions Virtualisation – or Telco cloud – standardisation. In his current role Timo was instrumental in ensuring Nokia’s early commitment and platinum founding member engagement in OPNFV, ensuring Nokia commitment with OpenStack, as well as Nokia being platinum founding member in ONAP.

Prior to joining Nokia Timo was a lecturer at his alma mater Helsinki University Computer Science department, where he focused on distributed systems and systems communications.
I have been an active member of the ONAP community since its inception mostly involved in architecture, use cases, and documentation. I am excited of the opportunity to help ONAP become successful in the industry and to accelerate its adoption. I’m looking forward to making it easier to deploy ONAP and for new people to get involved in the ONAP community. Further, I intend to help fostering fruitful industry collaboration between ONAP and other relevant open source communities and standards organisations.
