The 2018 Dublin workshop and open forum meeting on Controller Design Studio took place in AT&T, Middletown , NJ, USA. Around 15 on present and 10 virtual participants participated from different location( USA, Canada and India). Multiple vendors ( Bell Canada, Tech Mahindra, IBM Montreal, IBM India and Huawei) participated in this workshop. The meeting was organized by AT&T.
The workshop featured three special session:
- Controller Blueprint microservice : Current Architecture & Design, Code walkthrough, Dublin Changes & Scopes and Sample Blueprints creation.
- Blueprint Processor microservice : Dublin Scopes, Microservice conversions and Component framework implementation.
- Controller Design Studio UI : POC functionalities, UI Technologies and frameworks, Dublin Scopes and User Experience.
Discussions continued outside of the meeting at joined meals as well as outside of the conference room. The open forum discussion provided an opportunity to discuss future activities, contribution, milestone, roadmap and development of Controller Design Studio. This workshop helped lot other vendors to understand the importance CDS on self-service perspective and effectively contribute in Dublin development.
Good
- Face to face is very effective.
- Even better than last time. Better understanding. Session have been very helpful to get the E2E understanding of the over design and architecture.
- Discussion have been open and good feedback.
- Good to start with the community early on so the design can be comment and feedback.
- A lot of information conveyed to the team.
- Deep dive on the work items and features. F2F interaction great.
- Efficient and good understanding of architecture and design.
- Covered many topics.
- Effective and clear design session.
Improvements
- With some new members joining the ONAP community a introductory ONAP session is helpful which provides more context for the capability and/or project overview is being presented.
- Provide a user guide on the new capabilities being delivered as part of the CDS initiative.
- Read docs format
- Little hard to follow on the phone. How to integrate the whiteboard video integration.
- Real live execution of the code would be helpful.
- Break the Code walkthrough in small block.
- More integration testing help for Dublin.

What is Next?
The next speed boot workshop is proposed to be held in Jan 2019.
