A VDU is an atomic unit of deployment. A VNFC is a unit of onboarding. They are not the same. Unfortunately, the ETSI does not provide a clear separation between these two (the ONAP IM does).

  1. Completely agree. VNFDs should describe the VNFC only, which should include requirements for the appropriate containers. It should be up to the Orchestrator to fulfill that requirement with the appropriate container at deployment time.
